A Good Time to Get Into Hot Water

The Post Register’s longtime outdoors writer puts Green Canyon first on his list of eastern Idaho soaks.

When the leaves turn and the wind picks up, Jerry Painter says it is prime time to get into hot water, and he rounds up the wild and developed springs of eastern Idaho and western Wyoming to prove it. Green Canyon leads the eastern Idaho list as the full-service option: camping, food, and big swimming and soaking pools.

His directions are the way locals still give them: north of Rexburg, east on Highway 33 past Newdale, south at mile marker 116 on Canyon Creek Road, and four miles to the pool.
